

Junebug Organics grew from a seed in late 2020, pushing out of the ground in early 2021 and bearing fruits (and vegetables) in the spring of 2021. Owner Sonia is a graduate of Appalachian State University (Sustainable Development concentrating in Sustainable Agriculture) with a Master’s in Extension Education from Colorado State University. Sonia cares passionately about growing responsibly, caring for the land, and enjoying healthy, nutritious foods.
Junebug Organics is a two-acre farm on Carter Creek in Barnardsville, NC.
Products: The farm produces garlic, lettuce, basil, broccoli, joi choi, asparagus, dill, cilantro, tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, winter squash, spinach, collards, green beans, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and many fruit trees. The farm dog protects the small flock of ducks on the farm.
Junebug Organics does not spray any pesticides or herbicides. Junebug Organics has minimal tillage practices to benefit the soil microbiome. Junebug Organics purchases seed, compost, and most goods locally to mitigate fossil fuel emissions from transportation.
Junebug Organics respectfully acknowledges that the land we are on today is the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Tsalaguwetiyi (Eastern Cherokee), S’atsoyaha (Yuchi), and Miccosukee nations and people. Junebug Organics recognizes the Indigenous peoples as original stewards of this land.
